Bradley Barcola is set to continue his career in the Premier League. After several weeks of negotiations, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement over the transfer of the France international. Barring a last-minute turnaround, the 23-year-old winger will become a new Reds player.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is now considered agreed between the two clubs. Liverpool will pay around €116 million as a fixed fee, with several add-ons potentially taking the total package close to €140 million. The final documents are expected to be exchanged between Paris and Liverpool within the next 24 hours before the transfer can be officially completed.

Liverpool make a major move for Barcola

Liverpool had made Barcola one of their main attacking priorities of the summer. Talks with PSG lasted several weeks before accelerating significantly in the closing stages of the transfer window. Paris were under no obligation to sell a player still under contract until June 2028, but the Reds’ persistence and the size of their offer eventually convinced the club to open the door to his departure. For Liverpool, it represents a major investment in a young France international who already has considerable experience at the highest level, including in the Champions League.

Financially, PSG are also completing a hugely profitable deal. Barcola joined the club from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer of 2023 for around €45 million. Three years later, a fixed transfer fee close to €116 million will generate a significant capital gain, which could increase further if the various bonuses are activated. The sale also reflects Paris’ current transfer strategy: investing in young players with high potential, developing them and remaining open to a sale when an offer becomes too difficult to turn down.

The outcome had been taking shape for several days. As negotiations between Liverpool and PSG entered their decisive phase, Barcola was left out of the squad for the opening league trip to Rennes, with Paris keen to avoid any physical risk while a transfer potentially worth more than €100 million was being discussed. After three seasons in the French capital, Barcola is now preparing to discover the Premier League with Liverpool, who are completing one of the biggest deals of the summer transfer window.
