Carlo Ancelotti’s first match as Brazil head coach ended in frustration, as the Seleção were held to a 0–0 draw by Ecuador on Thursday night in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Despite creating several clear chances—Gerson, Richarlison, and Vinicius Jr. all threatening—the Brazilians struggled to convert and once again looked underwhelming in their build-up play.

With this result, Brazil remain 4th in the standings, two points behind surprise package Ecuador, who now sit second behind Argentina. The reigning world champions secured a narrow 1–0 win over Chile, thanks to a 16th-minute strike from Julián Álvarez.
