Luka Modrić is closing in on a move to AC Milan, with the Croatian legend preparing for what could be the final chapter of his illustrious European career.

At 39, Modrić is out of contract with Real Madrid and was reportedly pushed out of the club’s plans by new manager Xabi Alonso. Determined to stay at the highest level ahead of the 2026 World Cup, the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has now found a new home in Serie A.

That figure represents a significant pay cut from his previous salary at Real Madrid, where he was reportedly earning over €10 million annually.

Despite the drop in wages, the move offers Modrić a chance to remain competitive in Europe, play a mentoring role in Milan’s midfield, and prepare himself for one last World Cup with Croatia.
