After two convincing victories against Brazil and Colombia, the France national team has already established “a solid twenty” certainties ahead of the 2026 World Cup, according to Didier Deschamps.
These back-to-back successes have helped Les Bleus clarify their hierarchy. Key players delivered strong performances, while several contenders made their mark, including young talents from PSG such as Désiré Doué and Warren Zaïre-Emery.
A Nearly Finalized Squad Taking Shape
Between confirmations and new revelations, the head coach now has a strong foundation, with around twenty players almost guaranteed a spot on the trip to the United States, barring any physical setbacks.
Didier Deschamps remains cautious, however, preferring to speak of “convictions” rather than absolute certainties. “Certainties in football… I have convictions. How many will we have? It will depend. Obviously, even if you go up to 26, there are a good twenty who, if they stay fit, will be there. After that, selections are based on sporting and other criteria,” he explained.
The stated objective is to have three options per position in order to approach the competition with maximum security. The end of the season and individual performances will refine the final decisions, but the backbone of Les Bleus already appears well defined just weeks before the global tournament.
