France could be in for a completely chaotic evening against Iraq on Monday. More than their opponents, it is the weather that is causing concern in Philadelphia, where severe thunderstorms are forecast throughout the match.

Will Les Bleus even be able to play their second World Cup match? Nothing is guaranteed. Local forecasts predict torrential rain, frequent lightning, destructive winds, and even a risk of tornadoes around kickoff. Authorities have already placed the region under heightened weather alerts.

Severe Storms Could Disrupt the World Cup Clash

The threat is very real for the French team. In the United States, the safety protocol is strict: if lightning is detected within a 13-kilometer radius of the stadium, the match must be stopped immediately for at least 30 minutes. Every new lightning strike resets the countdown.
