The day has arrived for the French national team. This Thursday evening, Les Bleus face Morocco in the World Cup quarter-finals, with kick-off scheduled for 10 p.m. French time. A highly anticipated clash for a place in the final four.
For this match, Didier Deschamps is expected to make one change to his starting eleven. Désiré Doué is set to start on the left side of the attack, replacing Bradley Barcola.
Doué set to be rewarded by Deschamps
After coming on against Paraguay in the round of 16, Doué made a strong impression by winning the decisive penalty in the 70th minute. That important action appears to have influenced the France coach’s thinking.
Since the start of the tournament, Doué and Barcola have been competing to complete the attacking line alongside Ousmane Dembélé, Michael Olise and Kylian Mbappé. This time, the advantage is expected to go to Doué, while Barcola could start on the bench but still have an important role to play later in the match.
For the rest, Deschamps is expected to stick with continuity. Mike Maignan should start in goal, behind a defence made up of Jules Koundé, Dayot Upamecano, William Saliba and Lucas Digne. In midfield, Manu Koné is expected to partner Adrien Rabiot.
France’s probable line-up against Morocco: Maignan – Koundé, Upamecano, Saliba, Digne – Koné, Rabiot – Dembélé, Olise, Doué – Mbappé.
