João Félix has spoken at length to Spanish newspaper AS. The Al-Nassr forward discussed Cristiano Ronaldo and his incredible pursuit of 1,000 career goals, as well as the 2026 Ballon d’Or and his attachment to FC Barcelona. The former Blaugrana player did not hold back with some of his answers.
João Félix dreams of experiencing a historic moment alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. Now teammates at Al-Nassr after previously playing together only for Portugal, the pair could witness something extraordinary in the coming months. At 41, Ronaldo continues to close in on the mythical milestone of 1,000 career goals, and Félix has already imagined the perfect scenario: providing the assist for the landmark strike.
João Félix wants to assist Ronaldo’s 1,000th goal
“I’ve already thought about it. When he only needs one more, every time I get the ball I’ll look at him to see if I can make the pass. That goal will go down in football history, and being there would be an incredible moment,” Félix told AS. Playing alongside Ronaldo is particularly special for him: “We grew up admiring Cristiano, our idol and role model, and now I share moments with him. We have to make the most of it because we know it won’t last forever.”
Félix was also asked about the 2026 Ballon d’Or and made his preference clear: Lamine Yamal. “I’ve always believed that the Ballon d’Or rewards the player who impresses you with his talent. If there is one player who keeps you glued to the television, it’s Lamine.” He nevertheless acknowledged the performances of his rivals: “Mbappé and Kane had great seasons, but Lamine is football in its purest form. He also won the World Cup. In World Cup years, that title is always crucial when competing for the Ballon d’Or.” After finishing second behind Ousmane Dembélé in 2025, Yamal is therefore the player Félix would like to see succeed the Frenchman.
Finally, the former Barcelona player was asked about the unlikely possibility of one day joining Real Madrid. Having already represented Atlético Madrid and Barça, Félix immediately dismissed the idea: “I would be the biggest traitor in football. No, no, no. I really enjoyed being at Barcelona. Okay, Real Madrid is the one I’m missing, but I’m proud to have played for Barcelona.” Now 26 and settled at Al-Nassr, the Portuguese forward appears to have no intention of completing his collection of Spanish giants with a move to the Santiago Bernabéu.
