“When I left, I felt something strange,” Messi confessed. “The circumstances, the pandemic, those final seasons without fans… After spending my whole life here, I didn’t get the goodbye I had dreamed of. But one thing never changed: the love of the Catalan people. And Messi wants to reconnect with that bond. When he retires, he already sees himself moving back to Barcelona — and the thought alone lights him up.
“I can’t wait to go back. We miss Barcelona so much. My wife, the kids… we talk about it all the time. We have our home there, our memories… our life. I want to see the stadium again once the renovations are finished. I haven’t returned since leaving for Paris. It’ll feel strange discovering a transformed Camp Nou.”
He pauses, before adding: “But it will also be beautiful. Returning to where everything began… letting the memories come back.”
Emotional reunions are on the horizon — the kind that make an entire city hold its breath as a legend finds his way home again.
But it won’t be happening just yet: Messi has extended his contract with Inter Miami.
