After leaving Paris Saint-Germain to join Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, Kylian Mbappé reflected on his relationship with Luis Enrique. A short but impactful collaboration that the French forward now views with a slight sense of unfinished business.
Speaking on The Bridge podcast, the French international did not hide his admiration for the Spanish manager. “He’s a very good coach, he says what he thinks,” he said, praising the honesty and strong personality of his former coach. However, Mbappé admitted he was unable to fully benefit from that relationship.
A Brief but Meaningful Connection at PSG
Arriving on the Parisian bench during Mbappé’s final season at the club, Luis Enrique took charge of a squad already affected by uncertainty surrounding the future of its star player. “Unfortunately, I only had him in my last year, and it was a complicated season for me. I didn’t really take advantage of it,” he admitted.
This particular period, marked by a turbulent summer and sometimes delicate squad management, did not allow the two men to build a long-term relationship. A context that now leaves Mbappé with the feeling of a partnership cut short.
Despite this slight regret, the forward retains a positive image of Luis Enrique. Between mutual respect and unfavorable circumstances, their time together at PSG remains a brief but instructive collaboration.
