From a sporting perspective, Endrick would have reasons to feel frustrated. At 20, the Brazil international is still struggling to establish himself at Real Madrid and has been restricted to an extremely limited role. Since the start of the season, he has played only four minutes for the Spanish giants. It is a difficult situation for a young player who needs regular matches to develop, but Endrick refuses to turn his lack of playing time into a complaint.
“Being a Footballer Is Not Difficult”
Speaking to Brazilian outlet Globo, the former Olympique Lyonnais player offered a remarkably grounded perspective on his profession. “Being a footballer is not difficult. What is difficult is being one of those people who have to get up at five in the morning to go to work from Monday to Sunday,” Endrick explained. “Football gives us wonderful things.” His comments put his current struggles at Real Madrid into perspective, even as he continues to face intense competition for places.
His situation is nevertheless beginning to attract attention. With 22 caps and four goals for Brazil, Endrick already has significant international experience despite being only 20. His spell at Lyon also allowed him to gain valuable experience and continue his development before returning to Madrid. But this season his progress has suddenly stalled, and with only four minutes on the pitch, he has barely had an opportunity to demonstrate his qualities or build any momentum.
Endrick nevertheless prefers patience over self-pity. In his view, even the difficult moments in a professional footballer’s career should be placed in perspective against the everyday reality faced by millions of people. It is a philosophy he will now hope to combine with a return to regular action, because from a sporting standpoint, his patience at Real Madrid is being seriously tested.
