A brutal setback for Real Madrid. Leaders before kickoff, the Madrid club fell on Osasuna’s pitch (2-1) and dropped precious points in the title race. Real Madrid humiliated in Osasuna… nothing is going right for Los Blancos.
Dominant in possession but far too wasteful, Madrid were stunned just before halftime. After a VAR review, Ante Budimir converted a penalty to open the scoring (38th minute). Despite several saves from Courtois and a Tchouaméni effort pushed away, Madrid headed into the break trailing.
Late Drama Shakes the La Liga Title Race
In the second half, Alvaro Arbeloa’s men struggled to find inspiration. Mbappé had a goal ruled out for offside before Vinicius Jr equalized from close range (73rd minute). But just as Real were pushing forward, Osasuna struck at the death. Budimir, once again, punished Madrid’s defense in the closing minutes (90th), sealing a stunning victory for the hosts.
A crushing defeat and a worrying performance: Real Madrid surrender top spot and completely reopen the La Liga race. Arbeloa called for a wake-up response. “I’m not upset. I already said yesterday the season would be very long and there’s still a long way to go. We controlled the match, but we lack speed and efficiency. We focused too much of our attacks on the left wing, but we must be more versatile. It’s about strategy and knowing what we want to do. We have to keep pushing every game. There’s nothing else to do. If we’re not at 100%, anyone can beat us. That’s something we discussed in the dressing room. Every match will be difficult, and our opponents will give everything,” Arbeloa concluded.
