Kylian Mbappé remains a doubt ahead of Real Madrid’s Club World Cup opener against Al-Hilal. The French star is under observation after missing training, but Xabi Alonso offers a cautiously optimistic update.
Mbappé monitored closely
After feeling unwell on Sunday night, Mbappé skipped Tuesday’s training session due to fever and fatigue. At the pre-match press conference, Xabi Alonso confirmed: “Kylian felt a bit better this morning, but it was safer not to train due to the heat.” His status remains uncertain, with the medical team monitoring him hour by hour.
More squad updates from Alonso
Besides Mbappé, Alonso provided news on other players. Antonio Rüdiger is closest to returning: “Maybe not tomorrow, but definitely for the second match.” Eduardo Camavinga is also recovering “faster than expected.” Madrid hope to start strong, but may need patience to get their full squad back.
