With Luka Modric’s departure, Real Madrid is looking for a successor to the legendary number 10 shirt. Two prominent candidates are Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham.

Currently wearing number 9, Mbappé could inherit Modric’s number 10, as he does with the French national team. If the French striker decides to make the change, he would be the natural choice for this prestigious role.

The Weight of the Number 10

Jude Bellingham will therefore retain the number 5. However, a change of number might be considered to strengthen his status within the club.

The number 10 is more than just a number at Real Madrid. It carries a heavy legacy, worn by legends like Ronaldo, Benzema, and Zidane. The next player to wear it must live up to that legacy.
