Concern is growing around Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid. Absent from the last two matches, the French forward has been dealing with persistent knee pain for several weeks. He even traveled to Paris to consult his own specialists, away from the pressure in Madrid.
While the Spanish press was increasingly speculating about the possibility of surgery, the entourage of the France captain quickly dismissed the idea: there is no “surgical intervention at this stage.” That comes as a huge relief for Real Madrid, already without Rodrygo for several weeks.
Real Madrid Targets Champions League Return
Most importantly, a return date is now reportedly being discussed internally. According to Foot Mercato, Mbappé’s entire recovery program has been adjusted with one clear goal: the second-leg UEFA Champions League clash against Manchester City on March 17.
Coach Álvaro Arbeloa wants his star back for this crucial encounter. It is a risky gamble: at Real Madrid, there is pressure for a quick return, but a relapse could prove extremely costly, both for the end of the season and for the next World Cup.
According to some doctors, Mbappé may not be back to 100% fitness for another 6 to 12 months. That is a major concern.
