Real Madrid managed to turn things around against Valencia after Vinicius Jr.’s red card. The Brazilian took to social media to apologize following his controversial action.

In 2025, nothing changes – Vinicius continues to be at the center of controversy. On Friday, Real Madrid defeated Valencia in a delayed match from La Liga’s 12th round. Despite being behind, the Madrid side scored two goals in the final moments of the game, even though they were playing with 10 men after Vinicius Jr.’s red card.

The incident occurred around the 80th minute when Vinicius Jr. was sent off for an awkward challenge on Valencia’s goalkeeper, Dimitrievski. After an altercation with the keeper, the Brazilian reacted to a provocation by shoving Dimitrievski in the face. The referee had no hesitation in showing him a red card. Vinicius, visibly furious, had to be restrained by his teammates as he left the field.

Although this gesture could have cost his team dearly, it seemed to have the opposite effect. Vinicius Jr.’s expulsion sparked a rally from Real Madrid, who managed to turn the game around by scoring two late goals.

After the match, Vinicius Jr. apologized via his X account, saying: “Sorry and thank you to the team!!!!!”, acknowledging the importance of the collective effort.

An incident that could have been a turning point for Real Madrid, but ultimately served as a catalyst for the players, giving them a decisive victory.
