The Xabi Alonso era at Real Madrid continues to innovate. On Thursday, during a training session in West Palm Beach, the Basque manager introduced a new method of analysis — a drone. It was the first time the club used such technology in training.
A First for the Merengues
Under former coach Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid had never employed drones. Xabi Alonso, who also didn’t use them at Bayer Leverkusen, is now embracing aerial footage to gain new tactical insights. The drone provides a bird’s-eye view of player positioning and movement, offering his staff a different angle for performance analysis.
On the pitch, only non-starters and academy players trained, while the starters from the Al Hilal match stayed indoors. Kylian Mbappé, still recovering from a bout of gastroenteritis, remained at the hotel and has yet to rejoin the group. His participation in Friday’s training session remains uncertain.
