It’s a revolution at Real Madrid. Newly appointed coach Xabi Alonso is wasting no time in stamping his authority… and bringing in his own people.
Alonso hasn’t pulled any punches, arriving with his trusted staff. Among them is fitness coach Ismael Camenforte Lopez, who has immediately taken over from Antonio Pintus — a legendary figure in the Madrid setup.
A key architect of Madrid’s last four Champions League triumphs, Pintus was renowned for getting players in peak shape for big occasions. But after a 2024-2025 season plagued by injuries, both the board and Alonso decided it was time for change.
Pintus stays… but on the sidelines
Now relegated to a symbolic “performance manager” role until the end of his contract, Pintus no longer has control over the squad’s physical preparation. Camenforte is now in charge of training, implementing his own methods.
It’s an internal shake-up of seismic proportions: by sidelining Florentino Pérez’s trusted man, Xabi Alonso is making it clear he now holds full control over both the dressing room… and the staff.
