Paris FC created a sensation at the Parc des Princes by eliminating Paris Saint-Germain (1-0) in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France. Decisive scorer, Jonathan Ikoné (27 years old, 10 matches and 4 goals in all competitions this season) surely savored this strong moment.
“Honestly, we are very happy, we managed to defend well, it’s one of the biggest teams in Europe. We are happy to leave with the victory, it feels good and I hope it will launch us for the league as well. A derby won while being trained at PSG? I am super happy with my goal, I was able to score where I was trained. Pure happiness, pure pleasure! I hope this is not the last one and that I will continue to move forward,” reacted the winger on France 3. Out of respect for his training club, the former Lille player did not celebrate his goal.
Another key player in the feat, Ilan Kebbal (27 years old, 17 matches and 6 goals in all competitions this season), who provided the assist, also expressed his joy. “Yes, it’s a feat, we saw that it was a very difficult match. In such a match, we all have to run a lot, we had a great goalkeeper too because they had many chances. We managed to strike at the right moment. Then, we defended together, we had a bit of luck, but against this team, you need a bit of that. I am very happy with the qualification,” appreciated the Algerian on beIN Sports.
“He is a goalkeeper with a lot of qualities”
Indeed, this great goalkeeper is Obed Nkambadio (22 years old, 12 matches in all competitions this season). Delivering a top-level performance, the PFC goalkeeper was one of the main architects of the qualification. His coach Stéphane Gilli did not miss the opportunity to congratulate him.
“He had a very good match, he was decisive, especially at the end of the game where he made two or three top-class saves. He is a goalkeeper with a lot of qualities and talent. I am lucky to have two great goalkeepers at Paris FC (Nkambadio and Kevin Trapp, editor’s note), who get along well and push each other to improve. (…) I congratulate him, I am very happy for him, he had a good reaction,” emphasized the coach from Île-de-France.
This may well launch the season for Paris FC, currently 15th in Ligue 1, after this resounding feat.
