Thomas Tuchel was not at all pleased with Jude Bellingham’s reaction during England’s victory in Albania (0-2) in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The Real Madrid midfielder clearly showed his annoyance when he was substituted late in the match, a behavior that his coach criticized.
Tension between Thomas Tuchel and Jude Bellingham is evident, and this is not the first time. Starting for the first time since June, Bellingham was taken off in the 84th minute, just after Harry Kane’s second goal. Seeing Morgan Rogers preparing to come on, the 22-year-old raised his arms, visibly unhappy, before shaking Tuchel’s hand and heading to the bench.
Asked after the match, Tuchel was clear: “The decision is made, he must accept it. A teammate is waiting to come on, so he must respect that. I don’t want to dramatize, but behavior and respect for others are essential.”
Bellingham needs to stay a team Player
The coach added: “We will not change a decision because someone is waving their arms.”
Tuchel had previously criticized Bellingham for being too individualistic. Not selected in October despite returning from a shoulder injury, he was eventually reintegrated into the squad for the November matches.
