During a recent Coldplay concert in Miami, Lionel Messi and his wife were the latest stars to be featured on the iconic Kiss Cam — much to the delight of fans in the arena. Unlike a recent viral scandal at the band’s New York show, this time there was no controversy.
A few days earlier, a clip from the NYC concert sparked a corporate firestorm. The video showed Andy Byron, CEO of the U.S. startup Astronomer, sharing a very close moment with Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer — fueling rumors of a workplace affair. The footage went viral across social media on July 16, leading to a full-blown internal investigation.
Messi and his wife getting the spotlight
Both executives later resigned, and in a surprising twist, Astronomer responded with humor. They released a parody video featuring Gwyneth Paltrow (Chris Martin’s ex-wife) posing as the company’s mock-spokesperson. The video cheekily redirected attention toward the company’s core mission of data automation, avoiding direct comment on the scandal.
Despite the chaos, Astronomer gained massive visibility. Interim president Pete DeJoy even quipped, “Astronomer is now a household name.”
As for Coldplay, the Kiss Cam tradition continues — with Messi and his wife getting the spotlight this time, without any backlash.
