Paris Saint-Germain have already made their decision regarding the summer transfer window: unless a major player leaves, no new midfielder is expected to join Luis Enrique’s squad. Despite the numerous names linked with the club in recent weeks, the Parisian hierarchy believes the midfield is already strong enough.
The transfer window is effectively over, at least in midfield. PSG intend to continue trusting their current players next season. According to insider Djamel, the club’s position is very clear. Paris still want to strengthen certain areas, particularly in attack and defence, but midfield is not considered a priority.
PSG Believe Their Midfield Is Already Complete
The main reason is straightforward: PSG believe they already have enough options in the middle of the pitch. Luis Enrique can rely on Vitinha, João Neves, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Fabian Ruiz and Senny Mayulu, with several of them capable of playing in different roles. This depth allows the Spanish coach to change his system and combinations without adding another player. Signing an extra midfielder could create overcrowding and reduce playing time for some members of the squad. Fabian Ruiz’s contract extension until 2028, with an option for another year, confirms this desire for continuity, while Mayulu has also been secured on a long-term deal and remains an important part of the project.
The door is not completely closed, but the condition is clear: PSG will only reconsider their position if a midfielder leaves before the end of the transfer window. Without a significant sale or departure, no new signing will be seriously considered. This strategy explains why Paris are unlikely to pursue an expensive move for Ayyoub Bouaddi. The young Lille player is attracting interest from several major clubs, but his estimated €100 million price tag does not fit PSG’s current priorities.
The club want to avoid stockpiling players and would rather invest their budget in areas considered more urgent, with recruitment expected to focus on an attacking addition and defensive reinforcements. Unless there is an unexpected development or an impossible-to-refuse offer for one of their midfielders, PSG should therefore keep their current options. The decision is based on stability, confidence in the existing squad and a desire to address the team’s genuine needs.
