It is a significant loss for Paris Saint-Germain’s academy. Emmanuel Mbemba, regarded as one of the club’s brightest young prospects, has decided to continue his career with Paris FC.
Although he is leaving PSG, Mbemba is not leaving Paris. A free agent since July 1, the 18-year-old defender will cross the city without signing his first professional contract with the French champions. Comfortable both as a center-back and a left-back, the France U18 international was one of the leaders of the PSG U19 side that won both the French championship and the 2026 Coupe Gambardella, regularly wearing the captain’s armband.
Paris FC Wins the Race for a Top Prospect
Despite attracting interest from several German clubs, Mbemba chose Paris FC’s sporting project. He was reportedly convinced by the opportunity to break into the first team quickly. He is expected to complete his medical before signing a four-year contract until June 2030, continuing his development with the newly promoted Ligue 1 side.
For PSG, the departure is a major disappointment. The club is expected to receive just over €150,000 in training compensation, a modest return for a player considered one of the most promising talents of his generation. The move is also likely to frustrate PSG supporters, as another academy captain leaves for free to join a local rival. Meanwhile, Paris FC sees the signing as a statement of ambition, proving its growing ability to attract some of the best young talents from the Paris region.
