Despite an impressive season with Olympique Lyonnais, Corentin Tolisso continues to be overlooked by Didier Deschamps. A situation that frustrates his father, Vincent Tolisso, who does not hide his confusion over this exclusion.
He will likely not be there. Corentin Tolisso has not been called up for the March training camp with the French national team. The World Cup will therefore take place without him. And yet, the player may be having his best season since 2018—when he was crowned world champion with France.
A Controversial Absence Despite Strong Performances
Speaking to RMC, his father was blunt: “Considering the season he’s having, he deserved to be in the French team. If he wasn’t selected, it means the coach has his reasons.”
The Lyon midfielder’s father insists on his son’s return to top form: “When he came back to Lyon, he struggled to regain his level. But for the past two years, he’s been very good. He deserves a place in the national team.” He also highlights his mental strength: “No one expected him to return to this level. He keeps working. He relies on his mindset.”
However, he also acknowledges the fierce competition: “If he’s not there, maybe something is missing or there are better players than him.” A clear-eyed assessment, as Deschamps continues to rely on players like Tchouaméni, Rabiot, Zaïre-Emery, Kanté, and Camavinga.
