According to Mundo Deportivo, initial discussions have taken place with the FFF, and Zidane is already working behind the scenes to ensure a smooth transition. He could even sign an open-ended contract, staying as long as results are satisfactory.

Didier Deschamps will step down after the 2026 World Cup, and much like an incoming U.S. president assembling his team before taking office, Zidane wants to be fully prepared. He won’t take another coaching role in the meantime, with his sights set firmly on August 2026.
