Roberto De Zerbi has made his intentions clear: he’ll be on the Olympique de Marseille bench next season. After OM’s 4–2 win over Rennes on the final day of Ligue 1, the Italian coach addressed his future—and sent a message to the club’s leadership.
“Of course I want to stay. I came without the Champions League, now we’re going to play it,” De Zerbi told beIN Sports.
“We need to talk, see what went wrong and how to improve. I don’t need anything in particular to stay, but we must understand what needs fixing. I chose to come here no matter what. I’ve loved Marseille for a long time.”
“It’s not about one player more or less. Marseille is special. You have to understand this city—if not, you can’t coach or play here.”
Champions League Is Just the Beginning
For De Zerbi, qualifying for the Champions League is only the first step. He’s pushing for a competitive squad, capable of delivering across all competitions next season.
