Chelsea are preparing to sell two players who are no longer part of the club’s plans: Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson. The two forwards could bring in a major financial boost for the London club after another summer of huge spending in the transfer market.
Yes, Chelsea could exceed €120 million in sales from Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson alone. The first deal is almost complete. Delap is set to leave Chelsea just one year after arriving, with Nottingham Forest reaching an agreement with the Blues for the English striker. The deal could be worth £50 million including bonuses, despite Chelsea paying only £30 million to sign him from Ipswich last summer.
Delap and Jackson Could Bring Chelsea €130m
It would be an impressive financial return for a player who never truly established himself at Stamford Bridge. Delap is now expected to undergo his medical before joining Forest. Chelsea could then quickly move on to Nicolas Jackson. Back from his loan spell at Bayern Munich, the Senegal international is not among Xabi Alonso’s priority options, while Aston Villa have expressed interest. Chelsea value the striker at around €75 million, with Villa looking for attacking reinforcements as Ollie Watkins could leave the club. If the Blues receive close to their asking price, Delap and Jackson could generate around €130 million between them.
Perhaps even more striking is Chelsea’s ability to retain such high market value for players who have become secondary options. Delap spent only one season at the club, while Jackson returns from a loan spell without having permanently established himself in Munich. Yet Chelsea could still secure another huge influx of cash from the pair.
Chelsea also need these sales after investing heavily again this summer. The biggest deal was Morgan Rogers, signed for around €136 million, while the Blues also spent approximately €60 million on Maxence Lacroix, €46 million on Geovany Quenda, €39 million on Valentin Barco, around €50 million on Marco Palestra and nearly €27 million on Emmanuel Emegha. Those major deals alone take Chelsea close to €360 million in summer spending. After investing hundreds of millions to reshape the squad, the club are once again showing the other side of their strategy: buying in huge numbers, but also selling at very high prices. With only days remaining before the transfer window closes, Stamford Bridge could still witness several more major departures.
