Rayan Cherki (21) is edging closer to a Premier League move.
According to Foot Mercato, the Lyon attacking midfielder has given his green light to Manchester City, convinced by the club’s project and a personal call from Pep Guardiola, who promised him a central role—his favorite position.
After missing out on Florian Wirtz to Liverpool, City accelerated talks for Cherki. A transfer fee of around €40 million is expected. The only thing missing? An agreement between the two clubs.
However, L’Équipe offers some caution: while City’s interest is concrete and Cherki is their priority, the French international hasn’t made a final decision yet. He is expected to decide after the upcoming France squad gathering.
Still, a deal in the coming days remains highly likely.
