Alexander Isak has stunned Newcastle United by declaring his relationship with the club “can’t continue” after accusing them of breaking promises over his future.

The 25-year-old striker, strongly linked with Liverpool, released an explosive statement on social media: “When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue. That’s where things are for me right now – and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself.”

Isak insisted he had been silent while others “pushed their own version of events” and stressed Newcastle had long known his position. He is currently training away from the first team.

Newcastle’s firm response

Hours later, Newcastle issued a firm response: “We are disappointed to have been alerted to a social media post by Alexander Isak. We are clear that no commitment was ever made by a club official that Alex could leave this summer. We want to keep our best players… and we do not foresee the conditions of a sale being met.”

The Magpies have consistently valued Isak at £150m, with a sale contingent on signing an adequate replacement — neither of which appears realistic with less than two weeks left in the transfer window.

For now, the saga leaves Isak at odds with the club, his future uncertain, and Liverpool watching closely.
