FC Barcelona is on the verge of triggering the €25 million release clause of Joan García, the promising 24-year-old goalkeeper from Espanyol.

The 33-year-old German international returned to Barcelona after impressing with Germany in the Nations League, but reportedly arrived visibly upset. According to AS, Ter Stegen intends to speak directly with Joan Laporta and Hansi Flick to clarify his status at the club. While Barça may be looking toward the future, he has no intention of stepping aside.
Still under contract for two more seasons, and buoyed by his recent form, Ter Stegen sees himself as a non-negotiable starter—especially with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon.
