Chilwell, who was bought for a whopping €50 million five years ago, still has a long-term contract at Chelsea. This transfer comes as a surprise, given his recent role as captain for Chelsea during the 2023-2024 season, despite battling injuries.
His trophy cabinet boasts a Champions League title and a Club World Cup win in 2021, plus a FA Cup during a successful loan spell at Crystal Palace last season, where he played 15 matches.
