While the idea of a return to Olympique Lyonnais had stirred the past few weeks, the 37-year-old striker should ultimately continue his adventure in Saudi Arabia. The suspense is over for Karim Benzema.

According to former Al Ittihad player Hamad Al Montashari, the Frenchman is set to extend his contract with the Jeddah club, where he already earns nearly €100 million per year.

“According to my information, Benzema has signed for two additional seasons and the official announcement will come soon,” he said on SBA Sport. Unless there is a major twist, the dream of a Ligue 1 comeback can therefore be put away. Benzema, for his part, seems determined to pursue his Saudi mission.
