Chelsea are looking to wrap up their summer window in style by landing Xavi Simons – and they’ve come up with a bold plan: include Christopher Nkunku in the deal to convince RB Leipzig.
According to The Guardian, the Blues are negotiating a player-plus-cash swap with the German side, who value the Dutch international (22 years old, 28 caps) at around €69m. Simons, who joined Leipzig permanently in January for €50m plus €30m in bonuses, is pushing to work under Enzo Maresca.
Leipzig, still reeling from the departure of Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United, would welcome Nkunku’s return. The French forward left the Bundesliga side for Chelsea in 2023. However, the London club will still need to add a significant fee on top of Nkunku to seal the deal.
Chelsea’s aim is clear: strengthen their attack while offloading Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson, both set to leave following the arrivals of Liam Delap and João Pedro.
