PSG has a new target in sight: Gavi, the jewel of FC Barcelona. According to the Spanish press, the Catalan club is ready to sacrifice its 20-year-old midfielder to replenish its finances.
Is PSG ready to go for the risky bet on Gavi? In Spain, the media outlet Don Balon even mentions a price set at €80 million. A colossal amount… for a player who has only played two matches this season before undergoing knee surgery in August.
Luis Enrique is obviously closely following the situation. The Parisian coach knows Gavi well, having introduced him to the national team in 2021 and appreciating his intensity, pressing, and personality. It goes without saying that the idea of having him at PSG would not leave him indifferent.
Gavi and PSG, it’s heating up but…
However, the reality is less straightforward. Barcelona has extended their prodigy’s contract until 2030, proving that he remains a pillar trained at La Masia. For Paris, spending €80 million on a player still recovering would be a real gamble, as appealing as it is uncertain.
The Gavi situation is hot, but it may also be one of the riskiest on the market.
