FC Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, is laser-focused on one target: Erling Haaland. Despite the club’s financial woes, Laporta believes the Manchester City striker will don the Catalan colors one day.
Haaland, who netted an impressive 34 goals and provided 5 assists in 48 matches last season, recently extended his contract with City until 2034. However, that hasn’t deterred Laporta, who is crafting an ambitious plan to secure the striker’s services.
To make this happen, Laporta is banking on Robert Lewandowski’s potential departure and new sponsorship deals to gather the €150 million needed for Haaland’s transfer.
Haaland’s Future and Barcelona’s Ambitions
While Real Madrid also dreams of pairing Haaland with Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius, the competition may complicate his arrival there. Reports suggest Haaland favors the Catalan project, where he could lead a new generation, according to El Nacional.
Much hinges on Haaland’s situation at City. A disappointing season could tempt him to leave, and Barcelona is keen on making a blockbuster move by the summer of 2026.
