RC Lens are nearing the finish line. With only a few days remaining before the transfer window closes, the club have already completed most of their summer business. Jean-Louis Leca confirmed it himself: the squad overhaul is around 90% complete.
Lens are not expected to make many more moves before September 1. Almost none, in fact. However, a few deals still need to be resolved, with one targeted signing and two potential departures taking shape.
Lens Target a Left-Footed Centre-Back
The Blood and Gold now have a clear priority: signing a left-footed centre-back. The club want to add one final option to their defensive rotation before officially closing their transfer window. Lens will not sign a player simply for the sake of it, though, with the management prepared to act only if an attractive opportunity emerges in the final days of the market. The aim is to make one last adjustment to the squad without disrupting the balance established over the summer.
As for departures, two players are particularly concerned. Nidal Celik and Jhoanner Chavez have had limited playing time and are expected to look for a way out before the transfer window closes. Their situation now appears fairly clear: Lens do not necessarily see them playing major roles this season, and moves elsewhere could give them more regular minutes.
Barring a late change of circumstances, Lens’ final transfer push should therefore revolve around three deals: bringing in a left-footed centre-back and finding new clubs for Celik and Chavez. Most of the work has already been done. All that remains is to finalise the last few details.
