Robert Lewandowski is heading toward the Barcelona exit, and his next club may already be circling. While AC Milan dreams of signing the Polish striker for free next summer, Barça’s entire attacking masterplan is collapsing.
The Catalan club had already imagined Harry Kane as Lewandowski’s natural heir — even though the Polish star is under contract until 2026, his future has never looked more uncertain. And now Barça has lost its chosen successor… without knowing if it can even keep its current No. 9.
In Barcelona, the Kane idea had grown stronger by the week. Mundo Deportivo even claimed that “the Kane option is gaining weight.” With a 2025 clause set at €65m, more than 400 career goals and a profile tailor-made for Barça’s style, the Englishman ticked every box. He was viewed as the perfect replacement for Lewandowski, who has scored 109 goals in 160 matches but whose age and salary raise questions.
Lewa to Milan
Then the dream collapsed. According to SPORT BILD, the Catalan attempt to sign Kane has failed completely. The Bayern striker doesn’t want to move. He feels protected, trusted, fully settled — and with the World Cup approaching, he refuses to take any risks. No transfer, no negotiations. The door is shut.
Meanwhile, AC Milan is watching the situation very closely. The Italian giants would love to bring in Lewandowski for free in 2026 and are already positioning themselves to strike. Barcelona, meanwhile, has no plan B. Julián Álvarez is too expensive, Kane is untouchable, and Lewandowski’s future is murkier than ever.
Barça’s grand rebuilding project in attack is now completely stalled. And unless the club finds a world-class striker quickly, Lewandowski’s departure — or even his gradual decline — could leave a gaping hole that Barcelona currently has no solution to fill.
