Despite recent speculation, Lionel Messi has no plans to leave Inter Miami. The Argentine star remains focused on his MLS ambitions ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Rumors of Lionel Messi making a last-minute European return to prepare for the 2026 World Cup have been swiftly dismissed. The 2022 world champion intends to stay in Florida, with no immediate plans to depart.
His current contract runs until the end of 2025, and talks are reportedly underway for a possible one-year extension.
According to Marca, Messi wants to win the MLS with Inter Miami and be present for the opening of the club’s new stadium, Miami Freedom Park, in March 2026. Both his entourage and the club’s management are aligned: unless something drastically changes, Messi’s journey with Inter Miami is far from over.
