Gianluigi Donnarumma looked certain to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer. At 26, and with his contract running until 2026, the Italian goalkeeper has been replaced by Lucas Chevalier, who arrived from Lille and is already tipped as France’s new No.1. But the long-expected transfer could collapse entirely.
Manchester City were strongly linked in recent days, with talk of Pep Guardiola making him Ederson’s successor. Yet Sky Sport UK has poured cold water on the rumors: Ederson remains trusted, James Trafford is still part of the plans, and no agreement has been reached with Donnarumma’s camp – let alone with PSG.
That leaves Donnarumma in a bizarre situation. He is unwanted in Paris, yet has no clear escape route. Turkey has shown some interest, but no concrete move has materialized. With just one week left in the window, PSG risk seeing their €50m-rated keeper stuck in Paris.
For now, the prospect of Donnarumma sitting in the stands until January is becoming very real. His Paris exit seems inevitable – but not this summer.
