It’s official: Ángel Di María is leaving Europe and heading back to his roots. At 37, the Argentine winger has decided to end his European adventure and rejoin Rosario Central, his boyhood club — 18 years after leaving for Benfica.

After a strong final season with Benfica (15 goals in 40 games), Di María opted not to extend his deal. Despite offers and interest abroad — including from Lionel Messi himself, who tried to lure him to Inter Miami — Di María chose heart over glam. “Rosario is home. It’s time to give back,” he reportedly told those close to him.
