FC Nantes have made their decision. With little surprise after a poor run of results and a glaring lack of fighting spirit, Luis Castro was dismissed this Thursday. Sitting 17th in Ligue 1, the club decided to stop the bleeding.
To revive the Canaries, the club’s leaders have opted for an internal solution: it will be Antoine… no, not Kombouaré, but former assistant Ahmed Kantari. He takes charge of the first team until the end of the season.
Ahmed Kantari Takes Over Until Season’s End
A former assistant to Antoine Kombouaré, Kantari already knows the club well and a large part of the dressing room — a major asset in the attempt to halt the slide.
Kantari will be supported by Éric Blahic, Stéphane Mangione, fitness coach Gilles Marambaud, and Faouzi Amzal, who retains his role as goalkeeping coach. First mission comes as early as Friday night: bring something back from Angers. Nantes can no longer afford any mistakes.
