With Alexander Isak attracting serious interest — particularly from Liverpool — Newcastle United are stepping up efforts to secure a top-level replacement. Their priority: Benjamin Šeško, one of the most exciting young strikers in Europe.
According to The Athletic, Newcastle have submitted a second offer to RB Leipzig worth €80 million + €10 million in bonuses — that’s around £68 million + £8.5 million, totaling €90M / £76.5M. Eddie Howe sees the 22-year-old Slovenian as the perfect fit to replace Isak if he leaves this summer. But there’s serious competition.
Manchester United Step In
Manchester United have entered the race, with a competing bid reportedly worth €85 million including bonuses, or roughly £72 million. Several sources close to the player believe Šeško prefers a move to Old Trafford over Newcastle.
Leipzig Hold the Power
Despite these massive offers, RB Leipzig are in no hurry to sell. Crucially, Šeško has not requested a transfer, and Leipzig are under no financial pressure. Without a push from the player, both clubs could be forced to wait — or raise their bids.
The Race Is Heating Up
Newcastle have made a clear statement: they want Šeško now and are ready to pay big. But if player preference matters, Manchester United could have the upper hand. One thing’s for sure — Šeško’s next move will be one of the stories of the summer window.
