Could Neymar make a comeback to FC Barcelona this summer? After Barça’s Champions League win against Benfica, the club’s sporting director, Deco, addressed the rumors and downplayed the speculation.

Neymar dreams of ending his career at Barça, with the 2026 World Cup in mind as his ultimate goal with Brazil. What better place to prepare than the club that first brought him to global stardom? However, Deco doesn’t seem too enthusiastic about the idea.

He acknowledged Neymar’s legacy at the club but insisted that now is not the right time for a return. According to Deco, any potential reunion should benefit both the player and the team while maintaining squad balance. This means Neymar would have to adapt to Hansi Flick’s system—something that seems unlikely, as the Barça coach reportedly has no interest in bringing him back.

“Neymar is a phenomenon who played here, achieved what he achieved, and won what he won. Sometimes these stories don’t repeat themselves, or maybe they do—we never know. But I don’t think it’s the right time for Barcelona to think about Neymar, nor for him to think about it. Neymar is an important player, but if such a situation ever arises, it should be the right scenario for both him and us. A football team must maintain balance,” Deco told the press.
