Paris Saint-Germain’s pursuit of Illia Zabarnyi has hit a roadblock. Despite the player’s strong interest in joining the French champions, negotiations with Bournemouth remain stuck. According to L’Équipe, the Premier League side is holding firm on a €70 million price tag, while PSG’s offer has surpassed €50 million — but not enough to seal the deal.

Bournemouth are playing for time, seeking a replacement before releasing their 22-year-old defender, who featured in 36 league matches this season. Unless there’s a dramatic turnaround by Tuesday, Zabarnyi won’t be available for the Club World Cup, which kicks off this Sunday.

The Serbian midfielder is considered a strategic Plan B, with PSG having submitted a €15 million offer that’s reportedly close to being accepted. The deal is in its final stages and could be confirmed shortly.

Luis Enrique’s side is clearly prioritizing reinforcement in defense and midfield ahead of the Club World Cup. Maksimović may not have been the first choice, but he could turn out to be a smart move in a fast-moving transfer window.
