Rayan Cherki is heading to the Premier League. According to L’Équipe, Manchester City have reached an agreement with Olympique Lyonnais to sign the French attacking midfielder.
The deal was finalized on Monday morning after City increased their initial €22.5 million offer. Cherki will sign a five-year contract until 2030, with Pep Guardiola keen to bring him in before the Club World Cup kicks off on June 18, where City face Wydad Casablanca.
A win-win move
For Lyon, the transfer is a financial lifeline ahead of their DNCG hearing on June 24. Cherki, who had just one year left on his contract, leaves on a high note, ready to take on the challenge of Premier League football and Guardiola’s demanding system.
For City, it’s another high-potential gem added to an already star-studded squad — and just in time for a global tournament.
