A cold snap in the Vinicius Jr. saga. While an extension announcement was expected this summer, the Brazilian forward’s contract renewal is now officially on hold, according to Spanish journalist Jorge C. Picon.

His current deal runs until June 2027, but no extension announcement is expected before the 2025–2026 season.
Real Madrid won’t pay him more than Mbappé
According to El Chiringuito, the talks have stalled due to financial reasons. The club refuses to offer Vinicius a salary higher than Kylian Mbappé’s, who recently joined on a free transfer and is now the face of the project.
It’s a clear point of contention, slowing down a deal that had long seemed like a priority. One thing is certain: Real Madrid won’t break their wage structure — even for Vini.
