Ousmane Dembélé just completed a phenomenal season with Paris Saint-Germain. Voted Player of the Season in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League, the French winger has posted elite numbers: 33 goals and 15 assists in 48 matches.
In the Champions League final demolition of Inter (5-0), Dembélé didn’t score but delivered two assists and was the beating heart of PSG’s attacking machine. His all-around contribution drew praise from coach Luis Enrique: “I’d give him the Ballon d’Or just for the way he defended in the final.”
Dembélé or Yamal?
His top challengers? Lamine Yamal, Mohamed Salah, or Raphinha—but none of them lifted the Champions League trophy. Kylian Mbappé, despite solid stats, looks out of contention after a disappointing year at Real Madrid.
Unless something dramatic changes, Dembélé is the clear frontrunner to succeed Rodri as Ballon d’Or winner. Official verdict: September 22.
