Adrien Rabiot came close to joining Manchester United—not once, but twice. Yet the French midfielder ultimately chose Juventus, and then Marseille.
Speaking to The Athletic, Rabiot revealed the reasons behind his decision to reject the Premier League giants. “It could really have happened two years ago, when I was nearing the end of my contract with Juventus. There were serious talks, written offers… But it didn’t happen. Last year too, they came back. But I had doubts,” said the 30-year-old.
Concerns Over United’s Direction
Rabiot admitted he wasn’t convinced by the direction Manchester United were heading in: “Their situation at the time… I had reservations about their ability to come back and achieve great things.”
Considering United’s ongoing struggles—including a disastrous season that saw them finish 15th in the Premier League—Rabiot’s hesitation now seems justified.
