There’s relief but also uncertainty surrounding Kylian Mbappé. The French star has been discharged from hospital after battling a severe gastroenteritis, which kept him out of Real Madrid’s opening Club World Cup match against Al Hilal (1-1).
The club confirmed on Thursday evening that Mbappé has rejoined the training base and is continuing treatment under close medical supervision. While his condition has improved, his participation in Sunday’s match vs. Pachuca (9 PM CET) remains highly doubtful.
Real Madrid remains cautious
Despite signs of recovery, the Madrid medical staff is taking no risks with their marquee signing, especially in the high temperatures of California. The final call on his availability will be made at the last moment.
