Just as Marcus Rashford edges closer to joining Barcelona, a stunning new name has entered the conversation: Rodrygo. According to Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, the Blaugrana have shown quiet interest in the Real Madrid winger — if the Rashford deal falls through.
No official contact has been made yet, but Barça are reportedly ready to open talks should Rodrygo decide to leave Madrid. A move that could become more realistic as Xabi Alonso no longer sees him as a starter, especially with the arrival of Argentine wonderkid Franco Mastantuono.
Rodrygo to Barça? Almost unthinkable… but never say never
Let’s be clear — this would be one of the most controversial transfers in recent La Liga history. Rodrygo is 24, still under contract with Madrid, and crossing the divide to Barça would be a massive shock. Plus, the Brazilian is believed to prefer a move to the Premier League over La Liga rivals.
For now, Rashford remains the top target for the Catalans, with a loan deal already taking shape. But should negotiations collapse, Rodrygo’s name could come back… even if it feels more like a fantasy than a serious plan at this stage.
Still, remember: Real-Barça transfers have happened before — just not in this direction.
