While Marcus Rashford seems on the verge of joining FC Barcelona, an unexpected name has just entered the conversation: Rodrygo. According to Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, Barça has shown discreet interest in the Real Madrid star… if the Rashford deal were to collapse.
There’s been no formal contact yet, but the Catalan club is reportedly ready to open talks should Rodrygo decide to leave Madrid. A move that isn’t entirely out of the question, as Xabi Alonso no longer sees him as a guaranteed starter following the arrival of Argentine wonderkid Franco Mastantuono.
Rodrygo to Barça? Almost unthinkable… but not impossible
This would be a highly controversial transfer. Rodrygo is just 24, contracted to Real Madrid, and a direct move to Barça remains close to taboo in Spanish football. Not to mention that the Brazilian seems more inclined toward a Premier League switch.
For now, Rashford remains Barça’s Plan A. But if talks fall through, Rodrygo could re-emerge as a plan B—a fantasy more than a realistic pursuit at this stage. That said, cross-club transfers between Madrid and Barça have happened before… though usually in the other direction.
